| Description: | We have invested tens of thousands of dollars directly and indirectly in sustainable economic development. We don’t consider employing people to work for the Paulos Group “sustainable” nor do we consider it “economic development”—so we don’t. One initiative that has emerged is a herding cooperative. We have applied direct investment to a co-op of over 150 goats—plus, those in the co-op also own chickens, cattle and hogs. Through consolidation we’ve helped families shift from subsistence to specialization, empowering them to earn more income while at the same time opening doors to further economic opportunities for more people. |
